Financial Accountant – 6 month contract

Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will execute financial procedures related to the prescription business, including financial analysis, reporting, and ensuring compliance with governance and risk management protocols. Job Purpose:
To manage and execute financial procedures related to the prescription business accounts, ensuring accurate financial analysis, reporting, and risk management procedures are maintained.
 
Required Learning:
  • BCom Accounting Honours
  • CA (SA) would be advantageous
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Finance Department
 
Key Job Outputs:
  • Provide general ledger and accounting support, including preparing and reviewing journals, account reconciliations, and monthly management tasks
  • Update standard costings on the system
  •      Manage system processing and reporting, including disclosure requirements
  • Approve weekly local and foreign payments
  • Prepare year-end audit packs, roadshow packs, and additional disclosure requirements
  • Compile the insurance questionnaire
  • Resolve open and risk items promptly
  • Maintain and review the fixed assets register for accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct detailed expense reviews and variance analyses
  • Assist in the analysis and management of working capital
  • Track and enforce the FOREX hedging policy
  • Compile operational finance dashboards including cash flow statements and working capital metrics
  • Support the Financial Manager with process controls, updates to SOPs, and audits.
  •  Prepare VAT and tax packs
  • Assist with maintaining the system chart of accounts and authority limits
  • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Provide analytical support and assist in reviewing commercial contracts
 
Core Competencies:
The ideal candidate will be an analytical, detail-oriented individual focused on accuracy. They should possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage a finance team in a deadline-driven environment and communicate with all levels of the company. Proficiency in advanced Excel skills and ERP systems is essential. Additionally, they should have a strong grasp of accounting and risk management principles, statutory requirements, and tax legislation.
