Our client is a highly reputable funeral services company that dominates the industry in Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga, selling top-notch funeral insurance policies and providing unparalleled burial services through their twelve fully-fledged funeral parlours. They urgently require a decisive and dynamic General Manager to spearhead their business strategy and drive the company to greater heights.
 
The General Manager’s responsibility will be to provide a clear vision, strategic direction, and effective leadership to create long-term value for the organization. Accordingly, to ensure a performance-driven culture and operational effectiveness, maintaining a balance between the organization’s long-term goals and day-to-day execution.
 
Key Job Outputs:
    • Together with the Exco; develop, review, and refine the company’s business strategies
    • Lead the execution of the strategies to obtain a leading position in the marketplace
    • Work with the management team to satisfy consumer needs, and develop and nurture new and existing customers, partnerships, strategic alliances, and other market opportunities
    • Motivate a high-performance, innovative and results-driven organization
    • Develop performance measurements for a customer-responsive and efficient business, and ensure that these metrics are achieved
    • Responsible for the profitability of the company against the Annual Budget
    • Act as the final custodian of legislative compliance and governance
    • Ensure that revenue growth is achieved through a robust operational plan
    • Drive organizational culture transformation towards a high-performance, customer-centric organization
    • Improve operational efficiencies and drive down costs
 
Required Qualifications and Experience:
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Minimum of five years’ experience as a General Manager in the life insurance sector or customer service industry
    • Working experience dealing with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and its compliance requirements
    • Regulatory Exam 5
    • Strong experience in setting and executing strategy
    • Experience in leading a team and developing the managerial and leadership capacity
    • Experience in leading and modelling performance culture
    • Developed effective accountability structures to track business performance and improve productivity
    • Experienced in transitioning the business from an entrepreneurial to a corporate structure
