Job Purpose
A prominent industry-leading organisation seeks an experienced Head of Finance SA and Africa Controller to oversee comprehensive financial operations across multiple regions, manage financial compliance, and drive business growth. This position includes full financial oversight, strategic partnerships, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to guide decision-making and support the organisation’s objectives.
 
Key Decisions
    • Detailed analysis of commercial aspects to drive incremental growth/upsides.
    • Reporting of Financials for the current performance and future projections.
    • Resolution of audit queries and reports.
    • Finalise Books of Accounts, and statutory reports and confirm, as per delegation of authority.
 
Key Responsibilities
    • Financial Oversight: Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes, ensuring alignment with key business goals.
    • Accounting & Compliance: Oversee the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with local and international regulations, and tax management across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with business units to achieve growth and profitability goals while managing financial risks.
    • Cash Flow & Working Capital: Develop robust cash flow models, manage working capital, and optimise financial resources.
    • Audit & Governance: Drive best practices in governance, standardise financial procedures, and oversee audits, ensuring effective risk management.
    • Shared Services & Process Improvement: Manage the relationship with global financial shared services for seamless operational support and process efficiency.
    • Market Analysis: Provide market and competitive insights to ensure the company capitalises on growth opportunities.
    • Governance & Compliance
    •       The successful candidate will drive best-in-class governance and compliance initiatives to uphold high standards across all financial operations and reporting. Key responsibilities include:
      • Audit Leadership: Identify and propose critical audits, ensuring they are conducted on time, with efficient issue resolution, and act as the primary liaison between finance and other departments.
      • Standardisation of Practices: Align and streamline finance practices, ensuring full compliance with group-wide finance processes, systems, and controls to deliver efficient and effective financial outcomes.
      • Ethical Leadership & Risk Management: Foster ethical and responsible decision-making while safeguarding the integrity of financial and non-financial reporting.
 
Key Interactions
Engages with senior leadership, finance teams, commercial units, regulatory bodies, and third-party stakeholders to maintain a cohesive and compliant financial strategy across the regions.
 
Qualifications and Skills
    • Chartered Accountant or MBA with solid experience in finance, accounting, and cross-regional controllership.
    • Over 10 years in a senior finance position, with a proven track record of success in complex or multinational organisations.
    • In-depth understanding of accounting, taxation, compliance, and financial analysis.
    • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities to drive cross-functional collaboration and effective decision-making.
