Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company, is seeking an exceptional Accountant/Payroll Controller/Treasury to join their team in Cape Town.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee critical financial functions and drive financial excellence in a dynamic, international environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and process payroll for South Africa & Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring smooth & timely payouts
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns to South African Revenue Services
  • Manage month-end allocations and reporting on Staff Costs and Forecasts
  • Manage the accounting function to maintain overall financial accuracy
  • Handle journal entries for month-end closing
  • Manage foreign payments, forward cover, and treasury functions (Forex and global inventory payments)
  • Oversee the company’s treasury function (Cash and Bank)
  • Coordinate with Labournet to resolve long outstanding challenges and pain points
this is to ensure that management/control and review of payroll can be performed accurately
  • Manage stakeholder communications for payroll queries
  • Ensure compliance with FEC policies and manage foreign payments with banks
  • Oversee annual cashflow of incoming and outgoing funds
  • Manage and control payroll review process and FEC cover USD/EUR
  • Cover 6 months of Forward exchange contract commitments
  • Process and pay forex due items within the correct terms
  • Review payroll and request changes for management approval
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • B.Com General (Finance) / B.Com Accounting.
  • 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the payroll function with knowledge of the VIP system.
  • 2 years of SAP experience.
  • Expertise in payroll processing or payroll management.
  • Experience with electronic banking and forex dealing.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and systems, including experience with enterprise-level solutions.
  • Experience in general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong experience with data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Background in treasury management and cash flow management, liquidity forecasting, and short-term investment strategies.
  • Solid experience in financial analysis and familiarity with various financial instruments and banking products.
  • Knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements related to financial transactions, including internal controls and risk management practices.
