Operational Team Leader

Our global pharmaceutical client is looking for an experienced Operations Team Leader to oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, and to ensure that the facility is audit-ready. The ideal candidate will lead a high-performing team, align with defined metrics and KPIs to drive operational success and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operational focus of the team and identifying opportunities for efficiency and operational improvements.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations: Lead day-to-day warehouse operations, optimising resources and manpower to maximise output while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Planning and Metrics: Align performance with key metrics and targets to ensure operational goals are met.
  • Warehouse Management and Upkeep: Manage warehouse teams, infrastructure, systems, and reporting platforms to drive efficiency and service delivery optimisation.
  • Team Leadership: Oversee the team, report training needs, and manage non-performance through established performance processes.
  • Create a Performance Environment: Foster a high-performance culture within the team.
  • Key Interactions: Collaborate with the Commercial Team, Demand Planning, Senior Management, Warehouse Team, Suppliers, Customers, and other third-party vendors.
 
Educational Qualifications:
  • Matric or relevant working experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related fields is advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain and/or within a distribution centre, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of quality working standards, OHS Act/ISO standards, GWP, cGMP, GDP, and safe work practices.
 
As the Operations Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing team activities to ensure alignment with company objectives. You will develop and execute strategies to achieve operational targets, while effectively communicating key information to your team. Your role will also involve organising tasks, employees, and documents to optimise performance. Setting and driving clear goals will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the team and the achievement of operational excellence.
