Procurement Manager

Our client in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Procurement Manager to oversee strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement operations within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials and services, driving cost optimisation, maintaining supplier performance, and ensuring full compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure a continuous supply of raw materials, packaging, components, and services.
- Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with local and international suppliers to support operational and business objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance, manage supplier approvals, and ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and support demand forecasting.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives, manage procurement budgets, and support business continuity planning.
- Coordinate import/export activities, customs compliance, shipping documentation, and foreign supplier management.
- Support audits, new product development initiatives, and procurement-related compliance activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop the procurement team while ensuring adherence to SOPs and operational standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Procurement.
- Additional qualifications in CIPS, Shipping, Import & Export Management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management within a pharmaceutical, FMCG, or medical manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior procurement or management role.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost optimisation.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Syspro, or similar.
- Strong understanding of GMP, ISO 13485, SAHPRA, and regulatory procurement requirements.
- Experience with import/export processes, customs clearance, incoterms, and international suppliers.
