Responsible Pharmacist – Distribution

Our client in the pharmaceutical distribution industry is seeking an experienced and compliance-driven Responsible Pharmacist to oversee wholesale distribution operations within a regulated warehouse environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical legislation, quality systems, Good Distribution Practices, and regulatory requirements while maintaining operational excellence across distribution and warehouse activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the Medicines and Pharmacy Act, SAHPRA, and applicable GDP/GMP/ISO standards.
- Oversee quality management systems, SOP implementation, training, audits, CAPA management, deviations, and non-conformances.
- Manage wholesale pharmacy and medical device licensing requirements and retention.
- Supervise storage, distribution, quarantine, cold chain management, recalls, returns, and destruction processes.
- Maintain control and compliance of scheduled medicines, including S5 & S6 registers and stock management.
- Support import/export permit applications, imported product sampling, and pharmacovigilance reporting activities.
- Ensure validation and monitoring of infrastructure, warehouse equipment, and cold chain distribution processes.
- Liaise with internal business units, logistics teams, and external stakeholders to maintain service delivery standards.
- Lead and support warehouse QA activities, self-inspections, cycle counts, and stock take processes.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm).
- Registered and active member of the SAPC.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an RP within a distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems.
- Exposure to ISO13485 standards advantageous.
