Our pharmaceutical client is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their Finance Department, reporting directly to the CFO. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage the full spectrum of financial activities and cash flows for the subsidiary, ensuring compliance with all accounting and financial standards.
Job Purpose
To oversee and manage all finance operations, ensuring strategic cash flow planning, adherence to regulatory and internal accounting standards, and accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
- Chartered Accountant (CA) – SA or CIMA certification
- Expertise in customer collections and personal service
- Solid understanding of business principles, especially in cash flow management
- Knowledge of the import process and compliance standards
- Familiarity with government tender processes
- Strong written communication skills for drawing up financial reports and profitability calculations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills; Oracle experience preferred
- Knowledge of Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and profit/loss calculation skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work accurately within tight reporting deadlines
Experience Required
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience post-articles
- Experience with Oracle and familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Knowledge of FX risk management (Rand vs. USD)
- Background in BEE provisions and regulatory compliance
- Extensive budgeting, financial reporting, and GAAP expertise
- Familiar with public company financial reporting, governance, and internal control standards
- Prior experience managing billing and collections across various provinces is advantageous
