Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, requires an Engineering Manager to take charge of their engineering department. As the Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring seamless factory operations, overseeing technical support, and maintaining manufacturing assets. It is imperative for you to implement the most efficient maintenance strategies, provide proactive technical guidance across various functions, and manage multiple shifts of the interdisciplinary engineering team. Education and Experience
    • B.Eng. / B.Tech. in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical).
    • 10+ years’ experience in an engineering/maintenance management role.
    • Previous GMR 2(1) appointment is a must.
    • A Certificated Engineer (holder of Government Certificate of Competence – Factories) will receive preference.
    • Experience in FMCG/Pharma/Healthcare manufacturing and cGMP regulations will be a distinct advantage.
    • Qualification in maintenance planning and/or CMMS would be advantageous.
    • Good understanding and experience of current manufacturing technologies and methodologies.
    • Proficient in MRP/ERP systems.
    • Must have demonstrated experience in mentoring/managing Engineering graduates in the workplace
 
Key Job Outputs
    • Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance – Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, SAHPRA, FDA & OHSAct.
    • Risk Management – Develop action plans for yearly Insurance Risk Report and monitor utilities.
    • Machine/Equipment Availability – Optimize production lines, track downtime, and ensure cGMP compliance.
    • Maintenance Productivity – Schedule, train, and supervise employees, track performance, and coordinate contractors.
    • Project Management – Manage tenders, develop Industry roadmap, and oversee equipment start-up.
    • Factory Expenses – Control maintenance expenses, prioritise repairs, and maximize equipment availability.
    • Technical Documentation & Training – Provide training and continuous development for maintenance and engineering personnel.
    • Leadership & Performance Management – Coach and develop direct reports, set clear standards and objectives, and collaborate across departments.
    • Continuous Improvement – Implement agreed-upon metrics, adjust as needed, and foster collaboration across departments to reach targets.
