Maintenance Planner

Job Purpose
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Maintenance Planner to enhance plant equipment effectiveness through effective asset management systems and procedures. This includes managing information systems, work planning, spares acquisition, and resource optimization in collaboration with the Engineering Manager. The role also prioritises compliance with regulatory requirements, including Good Engineering Practices (GEP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
 
Required Learning
  • Trade-tested artisan with a National Diploma (minimum qualification).
  • Desired Qualification: ND/BTech/BEng/BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an FMCG engineering/manufacturing environment, including 3 years of planning experience.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is advantageous.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the preventive maintenance system using Pragma Onkey 5 software.
  • Plan and schedule resources for efficient execution of planned maintenance work.
  • Ensure quality control for spares and tools received, adhering to compliance standards.
  • Analyse trends, breakdowns, and costs, recommending changes for maintenance effectiveness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive technical library for equipment manuals, safety data sheets, and inspection records.
  • Submit monthly reports on failure trends and breakdowns, with actionable recommendations.
  • Drive quality system elements, including deviation management, root cause analysis, and CAPA management.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical and regulatory standards in collaboration with the Validation Department.
  • Develop, review, and update Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Coordinate statutory inspections and calibration work orders for quality-sensitive equipment.
  • Plan and schedule shutdown and weekend maintenance work.
  • Train production team leaders, artisans, and technicians on Pragma Onkey 5 and maintenance feedback processes.
  • Ensure root cause analysis is conducted for breakdowns exceeding one hour.
  • Drive asset management improvements, targeting equipment availability over 95%.
  • Achieve planned maintenance schedule attainment of 80%+ and maintain a backlog of fewer than 20 work orders.
