Occupational Health Practitioner

Our client in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and dedicated Occupational Health Practitioner to oversee employee health and wellness within a regulated production environment. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with occupational health legislation, promote well-being, and support a safe and productive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a comprehensive occupational health programme in line with relevant South African legislation (OHS Act, COIDA, etc.).
- Conduct medical surveillance, pre-employment, periodic, and exit medicals, maintaining accurate health records.
- Provide primary healthcare and emergency treatment within scope of practice.
- Oversee chronic disease and wellness programmes promoting employee well-being.
- Perform risk assessments and collaborate with HSE and HR teams to reduce workplace hazards.
- Liaise with the Occupational Health Medical Practitioner (OMP) and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for case management and follow-up.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, maintain documentation, and prepare statutory reports.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health Nursing or equivalent.
- Registered with SANC as an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner.
- Valid dispensing licence and current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Minimum 5 years’ occupational health experience, ideally within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of GMP, industrial hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
