Our client, a prominent pharmaceutical manufacturer, is searching for a proactive and strategic Procurement Manager to supervise the acquisition of raw materials, equipment, and necessary supplies for producing high-quality pharmaceutical goods. This vital position ensures that procurement procedures are streamlined, cost-efficient, and compliant with all regulatory requirements. The Procurement Manager fosters close collaboration with all departments to guarantee the punctual availability of superior materials.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure continuous supply and optimize procurement processes
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high quality and reliability
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best possible outcomes for the company
  • Coordinate with planners to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained
  • Implement inventory management systems and practices to minimize waste and reduce carrying costs
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, including local and international standards such as GMP and ISO
  • Implement procurement policies that align with BBBEE goals, regularly monitoring and reporting on progress to ensure targets are met and opportunities for improvement are identified
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on procurement strategies and objectives
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management and Business Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software
  • Understanding of South African regulatory requirements and market conditions
